Walking – A Simple Path To Lose Weight

by Walter Wickoff

If you’ve decided to get rid of a few extra pounds then you’ve probably come up with some sort of workout plan. Maybe you’re new to working out or you haven’t done any workouts in a long time? Even if it can seem overwhelming, you can work your way into a workout program bit by bit by walking. Be certain that you incorporate walking with any other exercise you are presently doing.

You can add walking into your schedule in a variety of ways. If you own a dog then walk it around the vicinity for no less than ten minutes. You may only be walking for 10 minutes at a time, but over one week that equates to 70 minutes, which is quite a lot of walking. You can double the number if you take your dog for a walk two times a day. Walk to your workplace if you live fairly close to it. Obviously, if it’s going to take you 2 hours to walk to work, it’s not such a good idea to walk there each day (but feel free to try if you think you can do it!). It’s not unreasonable to walk 30 minutes to get to work and it will give you at least an hour of exercise every day going back and forth. Even if you commute to work, you can nonetheless try adding walking into your day by walking to the next bus stop before you get onto the bus. It’s not hard to incorporate walking into your routine.

Walking is terrific for your general health. You can anticipate to better the health of your heart as well as lose weight since walking is an aerobic workout. Walking is ordinarily done in a slow pace so you won’t be stressing your joints too much, unlike running. My brother is very lean (but he chows on a great deal of junk food) and I ask him how he he can stay slim. He declares to me he doesn’t have a clue, but he did tell me that he does a lot of walking daily. The moment he told me that, I got a clearer picture. Walking is a great physical activity so you should find no reason to not bother.

If you can stick to a walking routine each day, it will become second nature to you and you’ll find it easy to slim down. By walking, you’ll also feel more fit and you won’t be deterred by it because it’s not tiring at all, which will make you feel more motivated. As you walk more often and see changes, you’ll want to do more or increase the intensity level of your walks. There’s no excuse not to do it if you feel comfortable with that. Try to walk at a faster speed or if you’re feeling very confident, you could jog. From there, you can go on to more energetic workouts.

There should be no reason for you to not walk a short distance every day. No matter how busy you are, you should be able to make time for a short walk in your neighborhood or go to your gym for a short session on the treadmill.

Before I sign off I wanted to mention an amazing art exhibit in New London NH all about gnu animals. Full sized gnu statues painted by local artists with names like Tattoo Gnu. Sadly, the statues aren’t on display around the city anymore, but it has been preserved on the web.
